How to Search an Online Library Catalog : A Research Guide by Mike Palmquist

Searching by Word: Step 2

When you click on the Search button, the catalog conducts a search of the sources in its collection and displays the results on a new page. The results of your subject search will include fiction and poetry written about the Southwest, as well as criticism about literature of the Southwest. If you find that a subject search has returned too many or too few results, consider refining your search by using techniques such as listing specific titles or authors, limiting a search by publication date, or other options. To learn more about how to refine searches on your library's online catalog, consult its online help or ask for guidance from a librarian.
