Chapter 18: Using Illustrations in a Document

Illustrations have many functions in a research document. Detailed charts and graphs can act as evidence to bolster your points, and they can present a large amount of information in a brief, readable fashion. Where warranted, photographs can add an emotional quality to your essay or add visual accuracy to your argument. Your instructor may have specific guidelines for using illustrations in your particular research project.
