About the Tutorial
This tutorial presents a brief overview of the process of preparing charts and graphs using a spreadsheet program. It introduces you to important design principles to consider as you prepare your charts and graphs and helps you analyze their design.
Although this tutorial uses examples from Microsoft Excel, you can use the concepts and strategies described here with any spreadsheet program. For specific instructions on how to use the features of your spreadsheet program, consult the software's Help menu or one of the many print guides available.
Keep in mind that some of the guidelines presented here might not apply to your specific project. You need to think about your own purposes, about how your audience will use the information, and about what kind of graphic will most effectively present your data.
