Mike Markel's Web Design Tutorial
SECTION 3C: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Study the design of this home page in light of the principles described in Part Two of this tutorial. Focus on the following questions:
  1. Does it use space effectively?

The header does not use space effectively because it provides very little information and leaves too much white space.

  2. Does it have an informative header and footer?

Although the name of the sponsoring organization is clear, the header is weak because it contains no navigation links. The footer is quite informative.

  3. Are the thumbnail-graphics links effective?

The thumbnail links are confusing. It isn't clear how to use the links and what the images refer to.

  4. Are the textual links phrased gracefully?

None of the links is integrated gracefully into the text. See Section 2E for details.

  5. Will people with vision impairment be able to use it easily?

Probably not, because some of the most important links are presented as graphics without text versions.
