Mike Markel's Web Design Tutorial
SECTION 1F: Register the Site with Search Engines

To help readers find your site, you register it with the search engines. Although some search engines use software that locates new sites on the Internet, you will speed up the process of registering your site if you go to the search engine and follow the procedures listed there.

Some sites, such as 1 2 3 Register Me!, let you register your site with a number of search engines at once.

In addition to registering your site with the major search engines, use traditional means to publicize it: add the URL to business cards and stationery, and include it in your organization's public communications and advertising.
